Who Should Attend?
This programme is designed for Managers, Supervisors and Operatives, who may be involved in a rescue after a fall, candidates must be competent to work at height.
Aim
To provide delegates with a thorough understanding of how to rescue a person after a fall form height. Includes the selection of suitable anchor points, awareness of possible hazards, methods of operation of rope devices and methods of control during lowering or raising operations.
This course covers all aspects of suspension trauma, including methods of minimising the effect on the casualty and how to handle the casualty when they have been recovered to a safe place.

- Pre-use check of equipment.
- Selection of suitable anchorages.
- Abrasion and edge hazards.
- Elementary pulley theory.
- Medical dangers to suspended persons – suspension trauma.
- Casualty handling.
Practical Skills
- Attachment to the casualty.
- Lowering a casualty.
- Raising a casualty.
- Recovery of a casualty suspended from a lanyard and fall arrest block.
- Casualty handling.
Assessment Method
The trainer will assess competence during practical work. Multiple choice written test with discussion.
Candidate Ratio
